Anatomy of a Song
This is something that I find very interesting and useful. I know there are a lot of people that would challenge that
idea, but I still think it's neat to read up about the meaning behind a song. Very often, the song doesn't have much
more to it then "it was just something I thought of." If you are also a song writer, you will know exactly what I'm talking about.
So! Going down the list of songs I have, many of them are explained in a short paragraph. These are all on this one page
together. However, there are a few which require a bit more attention than that. Those have seperate pages. The links will
be listed by the title of the song.
Happy reading!
New Doll
This is a random song that I made during my "experimental electronic phase." Pretty much when I composed these,
I put together a bunch of ACID loops that sounded good, then
completely improvised lyrics. Thus, they
don't make a whole lot of sense. Again, I came up with the lyrics to this song as I sang it.
Grow Up
A sad song indeed. Not based on anything real that happened to me. Appears to be from the perspective of a person
who has either just ended a relationship by accident, or lost the chance to have one. I think that the lines towards the end
are particularly tragic.
We are nothing it seems,
We are living in dreams,
Fate is cruel, time is short
Fade away.
The speaker starts reacting to the situation on a deeper level. They are under the impression that life is all a dream,
and it doesn't really matter anything. (Just a note, this is far from how I really feel!)
Sadly
Your guess is as good as mine. Hahah. Honestly! My best assumption is that the singer is either going insane, or is an angsting robot.
See You in Dreamland
A story of typical unrequited love that I wrote in High School. I have yet to record a good version of this song. It's a little
sad, pretty overly-dramatic, but cute. I think, at least.
Spiders in my Tee-Pee
Me and a good friend built a Tee-Pee once. But it rained and the whole thing pretty much fell apart. Every morning when I took
my dogs out, I saw tons of spider webs sitting in it. "That would make a good song title," I thought. At the same time,
a situation in my life had gone from awkward to bad. Metaphor time!
Having a tee-pee is pretty awkward already. It's a strange thing to build in your backyard. Having it fall apart and get
full of spiders is decently bad. See?
a tool to remember
I am often very mad about this song. People read/hear the lyrics and they think it's about...perhaps, a lady-of-the-night. This
is
completely wrong and makes me angry.

Man I'll Never Know
Just a simple story, not unlike See You in Dreamland, of love that never was. This is indeed based on a true story. But it doesn't
much matter, and I make that pretty clear in the song.
One Sided Love
The metaphor at the beginning of this is one of my favorite lines ever.
There's a galaxy between us
Though our comets often pass
But as I reach my hand to you,
I'm touching only glass
There is actually an animated video I watch on Youtube that inspired the last line. As soon as I figure out what it was called,
the link will be HERE. But do you get this line? We are totally different, and it will never work out, however our little
similarities come and go constantly. Aggh! It's so sad, right!? So this is just a sad story of love.
OVER
The end of a relationship.
Dirty Water
This has so much to it.

When I Smile
Another song from the same back as New Doll. Yes, I understand that the lyrics really make no sense at all.
Goodbye
Probably my all time favorite song. I think it's pretty straight forward that this is about somebody who has lost
a loved one. Maybe not as clear, but the loved one died in the army.
We Were Reluctant
I revived this one recently. The original version had random Russian phrases that never added up to much. The released
version doesn't make much sense, either. What is apparently is a person who has made some poor choices, ended some relationships
somewhere and is stuck. My favorite theory is that they are dead, and the ghost is stuck. Yeah, I write a lot about ghosts.
She's Gone
The point here is totally clear. My best friend had a baby, and I'm sad over how much she's changed. This just happened to me,
and it is absolutely true.
11:11 (this is your wake up call)
You may or may not know about the time prompt phenomenon. This song is my personal message to all the light workers out
there who are observing this. WAKE UP! We got some business to do!
This is Progress
Fog lights are demon spawn. That's what started this song. But the underlying message is that this woman came into
a man's life, made him angry with all the nagging, but then he realized she was right and became a better person.
I want to dedicate this song to all the real life Angels that come and go so quickly to teach us lessons.
